Submission Guidelines (Deadline: Feb. 2, 2009)
Red Weather is now accepting submissions for the Spring 2009 issue. We are interested in your best poetry, fiction, flash fiction, creative non-fiction essays, one act plays, and visual art (photographs, paintings, drawings, etc.).
Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your work.
Red Weather accepts submissions only from current MSUM students, alumni, faculty and staff, and authors participating in the McGrath Visiting Writers Series and the Glasrud Lecture Series.
To submit to Red Weather, e-mail 3-5 poems, 2 works of prose, and/or 3 works of visual art to rweather@mnstate.edu.
Indicate “Poetry,” “Prose,” or “Visual” in the subject line.
All poetry and prose should be sent as attachments in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format. All visual art should be sent as attachments in .jpg or .tiff format, minimum 300 dpi.
All submissions should be named with the genre you are submitting in and your last name. For example: Poetry Smith.docx or Visual Johnson.jpg
Your name should not appear anywhere on the submission. In the body of your e-mail indicate your name, contact information, title of work(s) submitted, and your association with MSUM (e.g. sophomore, class of ’82, faculty member).
There are no word limits for poetry or prose, but space is at a premium. Works shorter than 3,000 words are more likely to be accepted.
Each poetry and prose submission should be in its own document. However, all documents for each genre should be attached to a single e-mail.
Please send separate e-mails for each genre you submit in.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 2.
All submissions will be considered for publication in the Spring 2009 issue of Red Weather and for possible inclusion on the Red Weather website.
Submissions will be screened and selected blindly by students enrolled in ENGL 495/595 at Minnisota State University Moorhead.
No previously published work will be considered. Red Weather maintains first United States print and web rights, after which all rights revert to the author.
